Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work.
At St Peter’s the Legion of Mary prayer group come into St Peter’s on a fortnightly basis to pray the Holy Rosary with children from Key Stage 2. This happens on alternate Thursday’s at 1.00pm
This is an extremely reverent and purposeful session where children and adults together have time to reflect and pray.
We aim to encourage children to take Holy Water, Rosaries and prayer cards home to start their own Prayer tables. The children are also asked to place their own special intentions in a prayer pot, or mention verbally for prayers to be considered during the session. After the Rosary, we may sing hymns to Mary or any seasonal (May/October, Easter, Christmas) songs of praise. The children often leave very uplifted and hopefully continue in their desire to pray during times of hurt, trouble, joys and sorrows.
We are especially pleased to be part of the journey children make towards First Confession, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
