School Dinners

The cost of a school dinner is £2.50 per day for Nursery children and £3.25 for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 receive universal free meals.

Children can order a school meal on the day required and these should be paid for, in advance, using your child`s Scopay account.

Children also have the option to bring a packed lunch from home.

Free School Meals

You can claim free school meals for your children if you are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC))
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after someone stops qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit (UC) - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • FSM Form

 

 

Healthy Lunch Box

Packed lunches should include

Packed lunches should limit / avoid

 

  • At least one portion of fruit and one portion of vegetable or salad every day
  • Meat, fish or another source of non-dairy protein, every day. Non-dairy sources of protein include lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus and falafel
  • An oily fish, such as salmon, at least once every three weeks
  • A starchy food, such as bread or pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other cereals, every day
  • A dairy food, such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard every day
  • Water, still or sparkling, fruit juice, semi skimmed or skimmed milk, yoghurt or milk drinks and smoothies
  • Acceptable snacks include: seeds, vegetables and fruit (with no added salt, sugar or fat). Savoury crackers or breadsticks served with fruit, vegetables or dairy food are also a good choice

 

  • Crisps
  • Confectionery, such as chocolate bars and chocolate-coated biscuits
  • Sweets
  • Cakes and biscuits are allowed, but these should be part of a balanced meal
  • Meat products such as sausage rolls, individual pies, corned meat and sausages /chipolatas should be included only occasionally

 

  • We are a nut free school – please do not send in any food containing nuts. This includes Nutella and other chocolate spreads.

 

In 2008, strict nutrition content guidelines for primary schools were introduced and extended to secondary schools in September 2009. They include maximum/minimum levels of energy or calories and 13 different nutrients, including fat, salt and sugars.
